Kyiv Pechersk Lavra appeals to Kyiv Commercial Court over UOC-MP opposition

Minister of Culture and Information Policy, Oleksandr Tkachenko, reported this.

On March 31, the Commission for the Acceptance and Transfer of State Property of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra was again unable to start work due to the opposition of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.

"In accordance with Article 381 of the Civil Code of Ukraine, the owner of property has the right to demand the removal of obstacles to the exercise of their right to use and dispose of their property. We will resolve the situation legally," Tkachenko wrote.

It will be recalled that on March 30, the Cabinet of Ministers recognized the order on the transfer of property and premises of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra to the UOC for free use as "invalid."

On March 29, the agreement between the monastery and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate expired.

On March 30, the Commission for the Acceptance and Transfer of State Property of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra was unable to begin its work due to obstructions by the UOC-MP.
