Journalists receive data on Russia's plans to take control of Moldova by 2030

Moldovan investigative journalists, in cooperation with journalists from international publications, have received Russia's plan to establish control over the Republic of Moldova by 2030 — the Rise Moldova publication.
The plan, entitled "Strategic Goals of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova", was developed by Russia in 2021. The Russian General Staff, the FSB, the GRU, and the Foreign Intelligence Service were involved in its development. The establishment of control was supposed to be gradual and based on three spheres of influence: military-political, economic and humanitarian.
For example, in the military-political sphere, Russia planned to neutralise initiatives to remove Russian troops from so-called Transnistria by 2022. By 2025, it plans to form pro-Russian sentiments among the country's political and economic elite. And by 2030, it plans to create pro-Russian groups of influence and bring the positions of the leadership of Moldova and the so-called "Transnistria" closer together on conflict resolution.
In the humanitarian sphere, it is to ensure a stable and broad presence of its media in the information space of Moldova, to provide Russian with the "status of the language of interethnic communication", and to force the political elite of Moldova to abandon the strategy of eliminating Russian-language education.
And in the economic sphere - to preserve the volume and legal basis of Russian natural gas supplies, expand Russian-Moldovan cooperation in the trade and economic sphere and interregional relations.
The journalists have already shown this document to the head of the Prime Minister's Cabinet, Sergiu Diacon. He believes that the Russians are one step behind their plans due to the war in Ukraine and the ability of the EU and other international organisations to mobilise and counter Russia's intentions.
