It remains unlikely that Russia can build up the forces needed to substantially affect the outcome of the war within the coming weeks — the UK Ministry of Defence Intelligence

Since the beginning of January 2023, Russia has been trying to resume major offensive operations in Ukraine, aiming to capture the remaining Ukrainian-held parts of the Donetsk region. 

The Russian army has been able to gain several hundred meters of territory per week. However, intelligence sources claim that Russia currently lacks the munitions and manoeuvre units required for successful offensives.  

Due to political pressure, senior Russian commanders are likely to develop plans that demand unrealistic goals from understaffed and inexperienced units.
