Iranian Foreign Ministry accuses Ukraine, Canada, Sweden, and the UK of "pursuing political goals and interests"

Iran has accused Ukraine, Canada, Sweden, and the United Kingdom of "pursuing political goals and interests" over a lawsuit filed by the countries in the International Court of Justice.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this in a statement.

The Foreign Ministry said that Iran has allegedly taken all necessary measures to clarify the details of the crash. The country has treated the investigation "in good faith, transparently, and with full seriousness".

"Tehran's military prosecutor has conducted his preliminary and comprehensive serious, independent and impartial investigation. The military court conducted a fair and transparent trial," the statement said.

Iran prepared a technical report in due course with the participation of experts from France, the United States, Ukraine, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The International Civil Aviation Organisation confirmed that the majority of experts from the above-mentioned countries approved the report.

On July 5, the International Court of Justice accepted a joint lawsuit filed by Ukraine, Canada, Sweden, and the United Kingdom against Iran over the downing of Flight PS752 by Tehran. According to the plaintiffs, Iran violated its obligations under the Montreal Convention and "failed to take all possible measures to prevent the unlawful and intentional commission of the crime."
