International Luge Federation suspends Russian from competitions

The Federation's website states that the suspension applies to all athletes, coaches, and other officials of the Luge Federation of Russia. This decision was supported by 22 member states, one voted against, and five abstained.
The Federation explained that the Russians were suspended from the competition "in view of the aggressive war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine" and "in order to ensure security."
Instead, the International Judo Federation allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in its competitions under a neutral flag. The Ukrainian judo team decided to boycott the World Championships.
On April 12, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine banned national teams from competing in international sporting events where Russian and Belarusian athletes would be present.
