Hungary to continue blocking EU aid to Ukraine
Hungary will continue to block financial assistance provided by the European Union to Ukraine and will not support further sanctions against Russia - Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, quoted by Bloomberg.
Péter Szijjártó cited three reasons for this decision:
Ukraine's inclusion of OTP Bank in the list of international sponsors of terrorism. OTP Bank is the largest financial institution in Hungary;
the alleged restriction of the right of ethnic Hungarians to education in their native language in Ukraine;
The Washington Post publication, according to which Zelenskyy allegedly spoke about his support for the Druzhba pipeline, which Hungary uses to receive oil from Russia.
"I want to make it clear that as long as Ukraine keeps OTP on its list of international sponsors of war, we cannot support decisions that require new economic and financial sacrifices on the part of the European Union and its member states," Szijjártó said. "The same goes for sanctions."
