Hungarian opposition threw red paint on Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's office

The opposition Momentum faction poured red paint on the fence around the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's office in Budapest.

The political force posted this on its Facebook page.

"Viktor Orbán has once again betrayed and spat in the face of the memory of the heroes of 1956. He defied them by smiling with Putin a few days before October 23," the opposition Momentum faction said in a statement.

On October 23, 1956, Hungarians protested against Soviet rule. The demonstration later turned into a popular uprising against the regime.

A few days later, protesters were shot.

It will be recalled that on October 18, Viktor Orbán held bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of a forum organised by Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.
