Hamas militants take hostage a German citizen during the attack on Israel
During the attack on Israel, Hamas militants took hostage a German citizen who was a visitor to a music festival.
CNN journalists identified the woman.
A video was published online showing an unconscious, undressed woman in the back of a car surrounded by militants. Journalists identified that it was Shani Louk, a visitor to the music festival "Nova Festival". She has dual citizenship of Germany and Israel.
Her cousin confirmed to the Washington Post that Louk did indeed attend the music festival. The woman's mother told Bild journalists that her daughter was taken hostage by militants.
Shani Louk was recognized by tattoos and dreadlocks.
"This morning, my daughter Shani Nicole Louk, a German citizen, was kidnapped with a group of tourists in southern Israel by the Palestinian Hamas. We were sent a video in which I could clearly see our daughter unconscious in the car with Palestinians and them driving around the Gaza Strip,” said the mother of Shani Louk.
The girl's whereabouts are currently unknown.
A German Federal Foreign Ministry source told CNN that the German embassy in Tel Aviv is working with Israeli authorities to " clarify whether and to what extent German citizens are affected. "
Palestinians also took hostage other visitors to the festival, which was held near the border with the Gaza Strip.
According to the Israeli embassy in the US, Hamas militants kidnapped more than 100 people, including civilians and Israeli soldiers.
