Fourteen people were killed, and 16 are missing as a result of Russian strikes on Kharkiv. Search and rescue operation continues

On the night of May 26, the Ukrainian Air Force destroyed 12 out of 14 missiles and 31 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs. Two X-47M2 Kinzhal missiles were not destroyed.

Ukrainian air defence was operating in the Mykolaiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia and Chernihiv regions.

In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the air raid lasted over 12 hours. More than 60 people were injured with varying degrees of severity. Fourteen people died as a result of a guided aerial bomb strike on a hypermarket. A fire broke out over an area of 13.5 thousand square metres. Sixteen people are missing, and the search for them is ongoing. In addition, seven people were injured in the shelling of Pechenihy, Chuhuiv and Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi. Residential buildings, a shopping centre and other non-residential structures were damaged.

The Russian military fired ten times at settlements in the Donetsk region, which has been partially occupied since 2014 and is located on the frontline in the east of Ukraine. Three people were wounded in the Mariinka community and another in Lyman and Shcherbynivka. One person died in the Toretsk community. Residential buildings were damaged. Civilians continue to be evacuated from the frontline.

The Russian military fired 426 times at the Zaporizhzhia region, which has been partially occupied in the south since 2022, using UAVs, MLRS and artillery. Residential buildings were damaged. There were no casualties.

The Ukrainian Defence Forces shot down 11 Russian Shaheds over the Dnipropetrovsk region in the southcentral Ukraine. The falling wreckage caused a fire, which rescuers later extinguished. In addition, Russians attacked Nikopol with artillery and a kamikaze drone. A school, medical facility, pavilions and shops were damaged. Residential buildings and power lines were partially destroyed. The communities of Marhanets and Chervonohryhorivka also came under attack.

In the Kherson region, which has been partially occupied since 2022, Russians attacked Lvove, Havrylivka, Veletenske, Chornobaivka, Beryslav, Kherson and other settlements. Residential buildings and critical and industrial infrastructure were damaged. Four people were injured.

Ukrainian air defence destroyed three Russian Shahed 131/136 UAVs in the Mykolaiv region in the south of Ukraine. A preschool educational institution was damaged in the Koblevo community. In addition, Russians attacked the water area of the Ochakiv community with artillery. There were no casualties.

In the Vinnytsia region, residential buildings and cars were damaged in Zhmerynka as a result of the fall of Russian drone debris. Three people were injured but refused hospitalisation. Emergency rescue operations are underway.

Ukrainian air defence shoots down six attack drones and one missile in the Khmelnytskyi region in the west of Ukraine. The attack temporarily disconnected three thousand consumers from the power grid. There were no reports of casualties or damage.

Russian troops shelled the communities of Novhorod-Siverskyi and Semenivka in the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, with mortars and cannon artillery. Ukrainian border guards recorded 22 explosions in four settlements. No one was killed or injured.

The Russian army fired 44 times at populated areas in the Sumy region in the north of Ukraine, bordering Russia. Ukrainian border guards recorded 260 explosions from mortars, artillery, MLRS and drones. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties.
