Forest fires have been raging for four days on the Spanish island of Tenerife

Forest fires have been raging on the island of Tenerife in Spain for four days.

This was reported by the Canary Islands Emergency Service.

According to preliminary data, more than 26,000 people have been evacuated from the island.

Approximately 11 towns have been affected.

The fire broke out in a national park near the Teide volcano due to hot and dry weather.

According to local authorities, thick smoke makes it difficult to extinguish the fire from the air.

The fire has not yet been contained. It has almost reached the capital of the islands, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

In the coming days, the temperature is expected to rise and the wind will increase, which will only complicate the work of rescuers.
