First two civilian vessels use alternative grain route to enter Ukrainian port

The first civilian vessels have used a temporary grain corridor to enter the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk.

This was reported by Oleksandr Kubrakov, Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine.

The bulk carriers Resilient Africa and Aroyat are to load almost 20,000 tonnes of wheat in Ukraine for African countries and Palau.

"The vessels are flying the flag of Palau and their crew consists of citizens of Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Egypt and Ukraine," Kubrakov added.

Previously, the sea corridor was used to evacuate ships from Chornomorsk, Odesa and Pivdenne.

On August 16, the first vessel, the JOSEPH SCHULTE, left the port of Odesa using the temporary corridor for merchant ships.

Since then, five vessels have used the corridor.
