Finland to open two border crossing points on the border with Russia

The Finnish government will open the Vaalimaa and Niirala border crossing points on the border with Russia on December 14.
This was announced by the Minister of the Interior of Finland Mari Rantanen, the public broadcaster Yle reports.
The Vaalimaa and Niirala checkpoints will remain open until January 14, 2024. Other checkpoints on Finland's eastern border will remain closed.
The Finnish government does not exclude the possibility of closing all border crossings if Russia sends asylum seekers from the Middle East to the border with Finland again.
Earlier, Svidomi reported on the reasons for Finland's closure of checkpoints on the border with Russia.
