Finland plans to create Europe's largest reserve of stockpiles to protect against radiation and chemical threats

Finland plans to create Europe's largest strategic stockpile in case of chemical and nuclear threats.
This was reported by the country's Ministry of the Interior.
At the beginning of the year, Finland received substantial funding of EUR 242 million from the EU Commission for the establishment of a CBRN strategic reserve in case of emergencies involving chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear threats.
The reserve will be used by the countries of Northern and Eastern Europe.
The list of materials to be stockpiled in Finland includes almost a hundred separate items. These include protective and measuring equipment, rapid tests, medicines and vaccines.
It is planned that some materials are expected to be in the stockpile in early 2024.
