EU delists four Russians from sanctions list

The European Union has removed from its sanctions list four Russians who were subject to restrictions due to Russia's war against Ukraine.

Among them:

Farkhad Akhmedov, former president and co-owner of Nortgaz;

Aleksandr Shulgin, former head of the Russian marketplace Ozon;

Grigory Berezkin - Russian businessman whose assets include the RBC media holding;

 Georgy Shuvaev, a Russian colonel who died in 2022.

The reasons why the restrictions were lifted are unknown.

Earlier, the EU court allowed the lifting of sanctions against Russian businessman Aleksandr Shulgin. Shulgin was included in the sanctions lists as the head of Ozon Group, which is Russia's leading e-commerce platform and generates significant revenue for the Russian government. However, on April 1, 2022, he resigned as CEO of Ozon Group and left the board of directors.

The Court's press service explained to Radio Liberty that Shulgin did not challenge the sanctions as such in his lawsuit but only demanded that he be removed from future lists.
