EU adopts 11th package of sanctions against Russia intended to strengthen existing EU sanctions and crack down on their circumvention – EU Council reports

"Today’s package increases our pressure on Russia and Putin’s war machine. By tackling sanctions circumvention, we will maximise pressure on Russia by depriving it further of the resources it so desperately needs to allow it to pursue its illegal war against Ukraine," said High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

The sanctions package includes:

▪️cooperation with third countries to stop the circumvention of EU sanctions;

▪️prohibition of the transit via the territory of Russia of more goods and technology, which may contribute to Russia’s military and technological enhancement;

▪️adding to the sanctions lists of 87 entities that support Russia's military-industrial complex;

▪️extending the suspension of broadcasting licences of media controlled by the Russian leadership: RT Balkan, Oriental Review, Tsargrad, New Eastern Outlook and Katehon:

▪️prohibition to transport goods into the EU by road to trailers and semi-trailers registered in Russia;

▪️ending the validity of the temporary permit granted to Germany and Poland for the supply of crude oil from Russia through the Druzhba oil pipeline.
