Donald Tusk tells farmers border with Ukraine will not be closed
Warsaw, Poland (Svidomi) — Poland's Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, has said he would not be closing the border with Ukraine.
Polish Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Michał Kołodziejczak said that during the talks the government presented certain proposals to farmers: financial support, purchase of the remaining grain and concessions in the EU policy.
In particular, Kołodziejczak says that it will be possible to abandon the controversial provisions of the EU's Green Deal, causing the most emotions among farmers. However, this will only become known on March 15, when the European Commission adopts the relevant decision.
During the meeting, the parties failed to reach an agreement, Radio Poland reports. According to the farmers, the Prime Minister criticised the officials responsible for agriculture and did not rule out the resignation of some of them.
After the meeting, farmers' representatives said that another major protest is planned for March 20. It is expected that farmers will block roads in the provincial capitals and district centres.
