Danish Defence Ministry acknowledges defects in Leopard 1A5 tanks transferred to Ukraine

Danish Minister of Defence, Troels Lund Poulsen, has acknowledged defects in the Leopard 1A5 tanks handed over to Ukraine.

TV2 reported this.

The ten tanks already in Ukraine have several minor faults. They are being fixed by the Ukrainian defence.

Another ten tanks are still in Poland because they have serious malfunctions.

Thus, 12 out of the 20 tanks that have been transferred to Ukraine have been found to have defects.

In February 2023, Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen announced that Denmark, together with the Netherlands and Germany, would provide Ukraine with a large number of Leopard 1A5 tanks as part of the European EUMAM initiative.

On September 11, it became known that Denmark had handed over the first ten Leopard 1A5 tanks to Ukraine.
