Damage to a telecommunications cable running between Sweden and Estonia has been discovered in the Baltic Sea.
Swedish Minister of Civil Defence Carl-Oskar Bohlin said this, Expressen reports.
The damage was discovered on the territory of Estonia, about 50 kilometres from the island of Hiiumaa towards Sweden.
"We cannot assess what caused the damage," Carl-Oskar Bohlin said.
The Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications is currently ruling out the possibility of sabotage. The cable has already suffered similar damage. The cable is currently being repaired.
Last week, an underwater gas pipeline leaked in the Baltic Sea. The case is being investigated as aggravated sabotage.
