Czech energy company EPH starts using Ukrainian gas storage facilities
The Czech energy company EPH has started using Ukrainian gas storage facilities despite the threats associated with the war. This is due to the fact that Ukraine has lower prices for such services.
Reuters reports.
The company did not disclose how much storage capacity it had leased, but explained its decision by trusting the Ukrainian gas transmission system.
"We believe in the reliability of the Ukraine’s gas transport and storage systems, which proved themselves even in such an immensely difficult wartime situation," said Miroslav Hasco, chairman at EPH's EP Commodities.
Ukrtransgas confirmed the increase in foreign gas in the Ukrainian system.
"We see positive dynamics in the injection of gas by foreign traders into our (storage) facilities," Ukrtransgas says.
Ukraine's Naftogaz said that foreign customers could use more than 10 billion cubic meters, mainly in western Ukraine.
At the same time, Slovak state-owned SPP said it was considering using Ukrainian storage facilities, as Slovak storage is already 90% full.
