Cuba's Foreign Ministry says Russia is recruiting Cubans to fight in the war against Ukraine
Cuba has uncovered a human trafficking network in Russia that illegally recruits Cubans residing there to join the war against Ukraine.
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba reported this.
"Attempts of this nature have been neutralised, and criminal proceedings have been initiated against persons involved in these activities," the statement said.
Cuba stressed that it is not involved in the war in Ukraine and opposes mercenarism and the use of weapons by its citizens against any country.
"Cuba's enemies are spreading distorted information aimed at tarnishing the country's image and presenting it as an accomplice in these actions, which we categorically reject," the Foreign Ministry said.
