Court in Finland orders imprisonment of Russian neo-Nazi Yan Petrovsky

A court in Helsinki has ordered the arrest of the co-founder of the Rusich sabotage and assault reconnaissance group, neo-Nazi Yan Petrovsky (Voislav Torden).

Helsingin Sanomat reports.

The Russian is suspected of committing war crimes in Ukraine and will be sent to Vantaa Prison.

The Central Department of the Finnish Criminal Police will conduct a preliminary investigation, as the court refused to extradite Petrovsky to Ukraine.

It will be recalled that Yan Petrovsky took part in Russia's war against Ukraine. For this reason, in 2016, Norwegian law enforcement officers expelled him back to Russia. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, the militant has been under sanctions.

In August 2023, Petrovsky was detained in Finland, where he went under a new name based on his wife's studies. Ukraine filed for the militant's arrest.

On December 8, a Finnish court released the Rusich Group leader and refused to extradite him to Ukraine.
