Britain and Germany back Ukraine's right to strike military targets in self-defence, not just in Ukraine, but also abroad

British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly and German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit say that Ukraine has the legal right to strike military targets in Russia in self-defence - The Telegraph and DW.

"International law allows Ukraine to strike at the territory of Russia in self-defence," said German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit in response to a question from a DW correspondent about the May 30 drone attack on Moscow.

However, he added that the German government was against the use of German weapons for such attacks.

The British Foreign Secretary also said that Ukraine had the right to use force outside its borders.

In his opinion, a strike on Russia would "undermine" Moscow's ability to continue the war in Ukraine.
