Brazil's president offers Ukraine to "cede Crimea" to end the war

According to Le Figaro newspaper, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said this during a conversation with journalists.

Lula said, "we can talk about Crimea" since Vladimir Putin cannot seize Ukrainian territory.

"[Volodymyr] Zelenskyy can't want everything either... The world needs peace, we must find a solution," the Brazilian president said.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko reacted to the Brazilian President's remarks and said, "Ukraine is not trading its territories".

Nikolenko notes that Ukraine appreciates efforts to find a solution to end Russian aggression, but "any mediation efforts to restore peace in Ukraine must be based on respect for Ukraine's sovereignty and full restoration of its territorial integrity following the principles of the UN Charter."

"There is no legal, political or moral reason why we should cede even an inch of Ukrainian land," Oleh Nikolenko wrote.

Earlier, the Brazilian president proposed creating a group of countries to mediate "peace talks" between Ukraine and Russia.
