Berlin bans the display of Ukrainian and Russian flags on May 8 and 9

The police have banned the display of Ukrainian and Russian symbols at the memorials in Treptow, Tiergarten, Schönholzer Heide, and in the vicinity of these parks.

The press service of the Berlin police reported this.

The ban includes the flags of the countries, military uniforms, and St George's ribbons. The police also forbade the performance of marches and military songs.

Last year, a similar ban was also in place. Back then, Berlin police also banned statements that would justify Russia's war against Ukraine.

"The act of remembrance, as well as respect for these memorials and monuments, must be preserved against the backdrop of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war. This war must not be allowed to spill over into conflicts or disputes in Berlin, especially given the symbolic date," the police said in a statement.
