Australia joins the 'Drone Coalition' for Ukraine

Canberra, Australia (Svidomi) — Australia has joined the Drone Coalition for Ukraine and will provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with drones, Defence Minister Richard Marles said at a joint press conference with UK Secretary of State for Defence Grant Shapps.

"Australia will participate in the drone coalition which is being led by both the United Kingdom and Latvia. This is a really important opportunity for us to continue making our contribution to the effort to have Ukraine stay the course and be able to resolve this conflict on its terms," Richard Marles says.

The drone coalition was established in February 2024 following a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council. On February 17, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine officially announced the launch of the Coalition. It includes Latvia, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Canada, Lithuania, Estonia, the Netherlands, and now Australia. The Coalition is led by Latvia and the United Kingdom.

As part of the initiative, Ukraine is to receive one million drones.
