Another protest takes place in Moldova

Several thousand people came to the Presidential Administration building to demand the resignation of Maia Sandu.

The protesters demanded that by 1:00 p.m. on March 13, the government should resolve the issue of compensation for energy bills in the winter period.

The Moldovan police reported the detention of 54 protesters, including 21 minors.

The police also reported that "protesters do not obey and are aggressive towards law enforcement officers."

Head of the National Police of Moldova, Viorel Cernauteanu, said that Russian special services plan to destabilise the situation in Moldova.

Law enforcement agencies managed to detain a Russian citizen who arrived in Chișinău on March 9. His goal was to coordinate people who intended to destabilise the situation in Moldova.

The Head of the Police also said that the organisers of the riots had formed 10 groups of 10 people each, who were being prepared for actions. All their actions were coordinated from Russia. All recruits were promised $10,000 and support of political forces in Moldova. On March 11, seven of them were detained and taken to the police.

It will be recalled that on February 9, 2023, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had handed over an intercepted Russian plan to destabilise Moldova to President Maia Sandu.

The United States also provided Moldova with intelligence on Russian plans to destabilise the country.
