All EU member states, except Hungary, agreed to provide €5 billion in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the form of long-term loans

The European Commission plans to put forward a formal proposal on the matter next week, despite opposition from the Hungarian government.

"If the Commission's proposal is accepted, it will be considered by the European Parliament and the Council," said a Commission spokesman.

This aid is part of the macro-financial assistance of up to €9 billion announced by the European Commission in May.

As of now, only €1 billion of this macro-financial aid has been officially agreed upon.
