A Ukrainian sets himself on fire in front of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Krakow

Piotr Szpiech, a spokesman for the Krakow City Police Headquarters, reports this to the RMF24 internet radio station.

A 63-year-old Ukrainian citizen began calling Ukrainian men to return home and defend the country from Russians.

"The man, standing in line at the consulate, began to behave irrationally at some point," Szpiech says.

The man then set himself on fire with a flammable substance and fled. A police patrol and a witness to the incident extinguished the fire and called an ambulance.

The Ukrainian was taken to hospital. He is in serious condition
