A fire breaks out in a house with Ukrainian refugees in Germany

A fire broke out in a house in the state of Thuringia, Germany, where about 245 refugees were living. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Deutsche Welle reported this.

According to the police, the fire broke out in the town of Apolda at around 5 a.m. local time.

Witnesses say the flames were several metres high.

10 people were injured. They were hospitalised. Some victims suffered from smoke inhalation, and one person's leg was broken.

The body of an unidentified child was found in the building, and a 9-year-old Ukrainian boy was reported missing. A forensic examination is required to determine whether the body found in the building is the missing boy.

The residents of the building who were rescued by firefighters were relocated to a refugee centre in Hermsdorf.
