This nomination also included the film A House Made of Splinters, which tells the story of the children from an orphanage in Lysychansk. The film was produced jointly by Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Ukraine.

In addition, for the second year in a row, Volodymyr Zelenskyy was not allowed to speak at the film award ceremony. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, called the refusal to air the speech "an example of hypocrisy."
