Tula, Russia (Svidomi) — In the Russian city of Tula, a drone hit the Shcheglovsky Val military enterprise, which, in particular, manufactures Pantsyr-S anti-aircraft missile systems. Russian troops use these systems both in the war against Ukraine and to protect facilities in Russia.
Russia's Ministry of Defence reported drone attacks in four regions. The Russians claim that their air defence system repelled the drone strikes over the territory of the Tula, Smolensk, and Orel regions.
Sources of the Ukrainian public broadcaster in the special services confirmed that the UAVs had hit the Shcheglovsky Val military plant in Tula, as well as Smolensk and Orel.
The Russians use Pantsyr-S to defend the places visited by Russian President Vladimir Putin. In January 2023, the Ukrainian military-themed newspaper Militarnyi reported that in Moscow, the capital of Russia, residents filmed footage of the installation of the Pantsyr-S1 complex on the roofs of buildings in the city centre.
In February, the Pantsir-S1 system was spotted near a ski resort where Putin likes to go for a holiday. In general, it is used to provide close air cover for civilian and military targets against air attack.
Explosions also occurred in the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region of Russia. A fire broke out in the terminal of the Novatek gas company. All personnel were evacuated.
The governor of the region said that the Kingiseppsky district had been put on high alert.
