33 people injured in Russian attack on Kharkiv on October 8

On the night of October 9, 2024, the Russian army attacked the Poltava region with three Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles. An industrial facility was damaged, no casualties were reported. Russia also fired 22 combat drones at Ukraine. The Air Defence Forces reported shooting down 21 attack drones in the Odesa, Vinnytsia and Kyiv regions.

In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the Russians attacked Kharkiv with guided bombs. They damaged 16 residential buildings, a private business and cars. 33 people were injured, including a child. Two people were killed. The Russians also shelled Kupiansk, Kruhliakivka, Borivska Andriivka, Bezruky and Cherkaska Lozova. Two civilians were killed.

In the Donetsk region, partially occupied since 2014 and located on the frontline in the east of Ukraine, the Russians shelled Kostiantynivka, Lyman, Myrnohrad, Selydove, Tsukuryne, Druzhkivka and Yurkivka. They damaged 22 residential buildings, administrative buildings, educational institutions, 70 garages, 12 civilian cars and gas pipelines. Eleven civilians were injured and one died.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, south-central Ukraine, the Russians shelled the localities of Nikopol, Marhanets, Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka and Pokrovske. Civilian infrastructure has been damaged. The regional military administration reported no casualties.

In the Zaporizhzhia region, partially occupied in the south since 2022, the Russian army carried out 377 attacks on 11 settlements in the area. One civilian was injured and another died. Nine residential buildings were destroyed. 

In the Mykolaiv region, south of Ukraine, the Russians shelled the Kutsurub community with an FPV drone. The regional military administration reported no casualties. Russian combat drones also flew about 10 km to the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant. According to Energoatom, no damage was reported.

In the Kherson region, the Russians shelled Antonivka, Stanislav, Tomyna Balka, Tiahynka, Odradokamianka, Dariivka, Beryslav, Vesel, Zelenivka, Chornobaiivka, Novodmytrivka, Dniprovske, Nezlamne, Beryslav, Novovorontsovka, Komyshany, Kachkarivka, Chervonyi Maiak, Lvove, Stepanivka, Olhivka, Sadove and Kherson. Sixteen civilians were injured and one was killed. Twenty-nine private houses, outbuildings, warehouses, agricultural machinery, a bus and private cars were damaged.  

In the Odesa region, south of Ukraine, the Russians shelled the Odesa district with combat drones, damaging a medical facility. Five civilians were injured. 

In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, the Russians shelled the village of Snovsk. The regional military administration reported no casualties. 

In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russians shelled 16 settlements in the region 49 times. Two civilians were killed. A private house and a cultural centre were damaged.
