2.5 thousand Ukrainians are still in Russian captivity

The Minister of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, Iryna Vereshchuk, reported this in an interview with the BBC.

Civilians are currently being held captive as well. For several exchanges in a row, Russia has not released civilians, among them a significant number of women. Vereshchuk stressed that the Russians abuse, beat, and torture women in captivity.

The minister also said that 1,200-1,600 people, including men, manage to leave the temporarily occupied territories through the checkpoint in Vasylivka every day.
