Ukrainian farmers will face a financial crisis if the Russian blockade of ports in the Black Sea is not lifted

Farmers will lack funds for the purchase of seeds and fertilizers, therefore they will be forced to replace crops: they will sow rapeseed instead of wheat, soybeans and sunflowers instead of corn.

Reduced wheat and corn production in 2023 will lead to continued grain shortages worldwide and higher food prices.

According to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy, Mykola Solskyi, a long blockade will "break the financial cycle" of agriculture in Ukraine, and farmers will reduce winter crops, wheat and barley by 30-60%.
