Zelenskyy: I believe Ukraine will become a NATO member as soon as the security situation stabilises
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that Ukraine will become a NATO member after it wins the Russian-Ukrainian war.
He said this at a press conference after the NATO summit in Vilnius.
"We have really got the unity, and the leaders have supported Ukraine; we have got the unambiguity that Ukraine will be in NATO. According to that support of the leaders, according to today's speeches of each of the leaders at our meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council, we have received strong support from three dozen countries. I believe that we will be in NATO as soon as the security situation is stabilised. And this means that, in simple terms, the moment the war is over, Ukraine will definitely be invited to NATO, and Ukraine will definitely become a member of the Alliance," Zelenskyy said.
He added that Ukraine will never exchange its territories for any status, including NATO membership. The country will also not agree to a frozen conflict.
"Ukraine will never exchange its territories, even if it is one village where one grandfather lives," Zelenskyy said.
In addition, the President added that during his talks with Biden, he asked about the prospects of providing Ukraine with long-range ATACMS missiles. However, there are currently no agreements on this.
