We face a betrayal - Putin on the actions of Yevgeny Prigozhin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has addressed the Russian people. In his address, he called Prigozhin's actions a betrayal.

The address was broadcast on Russian propaganda channels.

The Russian president believes that Prigozhin's "exorbitant ambitions" have led to the "betrayal of Russia".

The Russian armed forces have allegedly received the necessary orders to neutralise those who organised the armed 'coup'.

"As a citizen of Russia, I will do everything to defend the country; decisive actions will be taken [regarding the situation in Rostov-on-Don - ed.]; they will be tough," Putin said.

Currently, Moscow and the Moscow region, as well as a number of regions, have been put under a counter-terrorism operation.

Putin also acknowledged that the work of state authorities in Rostov-on-Don is blocked.
