Ukraine Needs a Roadmap to NATO Membership ASAP

46 foreign policy experts, military officers and diplomats have signed an open letter calling on the Alliance to publish a roadmap as soon as possible that will clearly lead Ukraine to NATO membership in the shortest possible time.

This was reported by Politico.

"The transatlantic community can only be stable and secure if Ukraine is secure. Ukraine’s entry into NATO, fulfilling the promise made at the 2008 NATO summit in Bucharest, would achieve that," the statement reads.

The signatories called on the Alliance to take action to ensure that Ukraine wins this war and regains full control over its internationally recognised 1991 borders. They also called on the Alliance to make Ukraine fully anchored in the security and economic arrangements that from 1945 until 2014 made Europe a continent of peace, prosperity and cooperation.

The letter was signed, in particular, by former US Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun and US State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker.
