Three Ukrainian pilots perished while performing a combat mission in Zhytomyr region
On August 25, the crews of two L-39 combat trainer jets collided in the skies of Zhytomyr region while performing a combat mission. All three pilots died.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.
Among the dead is a pilot of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade with the call sign JUICE. He served as a MiG-29 fighter pilot and took part in the air defence of Kyiv and other regions. In an interview with international media, the pilot called on his partners to provide Ukraine with modern fighter jets.
The investigation into the circumstances of the plane crash is ongoing. The State Bureau of Investigation reported that the preliminary classification of the offence is violation of flight rules or preparation for them.
