The White House confirms US agreement to transfer F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine after Ukrainian pilots complete training
The United States is ready to transfer F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in consultation with Congress after the training of Ukrainian pilots is completed.
US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said this during a briefing.
Sullivan said that Antony Blinken's letter to the foreign ministers of Denmark and the Netherlands "formalised" the decision.
"This is a natural extension of what the President [Biden] announced in Hiroshima," Sullivan said. At that time, Biden announced training for Ukrainians on F-16s.
It will be recalled that on the morning of August 18, Denmark and the Netherlands announced that the United States had authorised the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
