Washington, USA (Svidomi) — The US government is asking US companies to stop delivering goods to more than 600 foreign buyers because Russia could obtain the goods and use them for the war in Ukraine, Reuters reports.

The U.S. Commerce Department has sent letters to at least 20 companies warning them of this situation. According to journalists, this is one of the ways to weaken the Russians on the battlefield.

The companies that received the warnings produce and sell products found in the missiles and drones used by the Russians to attack Ukraine.

"In those letters, we've requested that the American companies voluntarily stop shipping to these parties due to the high risk of transhipment to Russia," said US Assistant Secretary of Commerce Matthew Axelrod.

Axelrod said that senior US officials at the Commerce, State and Treasury Departments are also contacting senior management of US companies to discuss further steps they can take to prevent their products from reaching Russia.
