The UK and Denmark are preparing new military support packages for Ukraine. Denmark also signs security agreement with Ukraine
London/Copenhagen, UK/Denmark (Svidomi) — The governments of the United Kingdom and Denmark are providing new defence support to Ukraine. Denmark has also signed a security agreement with Ukraine.
The UK will provide Ukraine with another 200 Brimstone anti-tank missiles and train another 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers in the first half of 2024.
Defence Secretary Grant Shapps said the Brimstone missiles have already had a significant impact on the battlefield, "in one case forcing Russian troops to abandon and retreat during an attempt to cross a river".
The Danish Ministry of Defence has announced the 15th package of military aid to Ukraine worth €161 million (DKK 1.7 billion — ed.). The money was spent purchasing 15,000 155 mm artillery shells, demining equipment, air defence ammunition, unmanned aerial vehicles, radars, and communications equipment.
Denmark pledges to support Ukraine in the military and civilian spheres over the next ten years and will also help support Ukraine's ability to defend itself against a future Russian military invasion, the Danish newspaper DR reports.
In return, Ukraine is committed to implementing the necessary reforms aimed at developing democracy and fighting corruption to achieve future membership in the European Union and NATO.
