The leader of the Hungarian far-right party, Mi Hazank Mozgalom, will lay territorial claims to Zakarpattia if Ukraine loses the war

Budapest, Hungary (Svidomi) — The leader of the Hungarian far-right party Mi Hazank Mozgalom (Our Homeland Movement), László Toroczkai, has said that he will lay territorial claims to the Zakarpattia (Transcarpathia) region if Ukraine loses the war with Russia, the Hungarian newspaper Index reports.

Zakarpattia is a region in Ukraine that borders Hungary, Slovakia and Romania. Both Ukrainians and ethnic Hungarians, Slovaks and Romanians live in the region. There are Hungarian unions in Zakarpattia and even the Party of Hungarians of Ukraine, an ally of Hungary's ruling Fidesz party, led by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

Toroczkai said during the party's annual conference that pressure from "international financiers" allegedly led to the war in Ukraine and that the international investment fund BlackRock had "bought" Ukraine.

He says he supports an immediate ceasefire and negotiations with Russia, as the war will destroy "Europe and send the continent's economy to the bottom".

"If Ukraine ceases to exist due to the war, we will claim Transcarpathia," said László Toroczkai.

Mi Hazank Mozgalom currently has six lawmakers in the 199-strong Hungarian parliament.
