The ECtHR confirmed Russia's involvement in the downing of MH17
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Wopke Hoekstra, reported this. This is the first international decision in this regard.
"Today's decision is a crucial next step in the case that the Netherlands has filed against Russia at the European Court of Human Rights," the minister noted.
Iryna Mudra, Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine, reported that the ECtHR also recognized as partially admissible Ukraine's applications regarding Russia's human rights violations in the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions since 2014, as well as regarding the abduction and attempts to illegally transfer orphans from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions to the territory of the Russian Federation.
This is also the first case regarding Russia's seizure of eastern Ukraine in 2014.
In addition, the court recognized May 11, 2014 as the beginning of Russia's occupation of eastern Ukraine.
