The President of Ukraine appealed to the international community to counteract Russia's invasion and actions on the territory of Ukraine.
He said that the destroyed Kakhovka reservoir was one of the largest in Ukraine and had 18 billion cubic metres of water.
Zelenskyy stressed that the Russians had blown up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant to blackmail the world and had used the flood as a weapon.
"The flood zone includes areas where more than 100,000 people lived before the war. Now at least tens of thousands of people remain there," the President said.
The Kakhovka reservoir provided drinking water to a large part of Ukraine and supplied water to farmers for agriculture production.
"The destruction of the dam and the reservoir is a man-made strike on the environment, after which nature will have to recover for decades," Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
