Russian shelling in Donetsk region kills one civilian and injures four others on August 4

Russia attacked Ukraine with two S-300 anti-aircraft missiles in the Kharkiv region, two X-59 missiles in the Poltava region and 5 Shahed combat drones in other regions of Ukraine. The Air Defence Forces reported  downing of all 5 combat drones in the Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad and Zaporizhzhia regions.

The overnight Russian attack disabled the railway infrastructure in the Poltava region, central part of Ukraine. Ukraine Railway authorities note that the Russians damaged the tracks, contact network, and poles. No casualties were reported. Almost all communications and power supplies have been restored. 

In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the Russian army targeted Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, Kupiansk and villages in the Kupiansk district with anti-aircraft guns, rockets and FPV drones: Sobolivka, Prykolotne, Prystin, Hlushkivka and Malyi Burluk. The shelling damaged private homes and outbuildings and set fire to over 2.5 hectares of grass.

In the Donetsk region, which has been partially occupied since 2014 and is located on the frontline in the east of Ukraine, Russia shelled Bilytske, Hirnyk, Kostiantynivka, Myrnohrad, Novohrodivka, Pokrovsk, Sloviansk, Toretsk, Kurakhivka, Balahan, Katerynivka, Novomykolaiivka, Pleshchyivka and Stara Mykolaiivka. Russian shelling killed one  civilian and injured four others. Among the damaged civilian objects, there are residential buildings, educational institutions, a hotel, a shop, a shopping centre, administrative buildings, medical facilities, cars, and a power line.

In the Kherson region, south of Ukraine, partially occupied since 2022, the Russian army shelled Kherson, Zymivnyk, Pryozerne, Antonivka, Sadove, Zelenivka, Prydniprovske, Bilozerka, Dniprovske, Stanislav, Beryslav, Lvove, Bilohirka, Mykhailivka, Dobrianka, Odradokamianka and Vysokopillia. A critical infrastructure facility, a shop, high-rise buildings, private buildings, outbuildings, a gas pipeline and cars were damaged. As a result of the shelling, 15 civilians were injured, including one child. 

In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russians shelled the communities of Khotin, Velyka Pysarivka and Esman. No casualties were reported.

In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, the Russians shelled the localities of Novhorod-Siverskyi and Semenivka. There were no casualties.

In the Mykolaiv region, south of Ukraine, the Russians shelled Ochakiv, injuring one woman and damaging private homes. 

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, south-central Ukraine, the Russians launched attacks on the communities of Nikopol, Pokrov, Marhanets, Chervonohryhorivka and Myrove. Two women were injured. Private houses, outbuildings, power lines and a gas pipeline were damaged. 

In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied by Russia, the Russian army attacked Nevske and Makiivka with artillery and multiple rocket launchers.

In the Zaporizhzhia region in the south, partially occupied since 2022, the Russians attacked the settlements of Pavlivka, Bilohiria, Bilenke, Prymorske, Huluaipole, Omelnyk, Zaliznychne, Mala Tokmachka, Preobrazhenka, Uspenivka, Levadne, Robotyne, Novodanylivka, Malynivka, Novoandriivka and Verkhnia Tersa. Private homes were destroyed as a result of the strikes. No casualties were reported.
