Russian General Sergei Surovikin allegedly dismissed from the post of commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces
Sergei Surovikin has allegedly been removed from his post as commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
This was reported by the former editor-in-chief of the Russian media outlet Ekho Moskvy, Alexei Venediktov, and RBC, citing a presidential decree and own sources.
Surovikin will allegedly be transferred to another job. The general is now supposedly on short-term leave.
On June 29, 2023, The Moscow Times reported that Surovikin had been arrested.
At the time, the Ministry of Defence did not comment on Surovikin's whereabouts, even through "internal channels".
The New York Times wrote that the general probably knew of Prigozhin's plans to stage an armed mutiny.
There is no official decree on Surovikin's dismissal. However, the website of the Russian president omitted Decree No. 623 from the list of published documents.
