Russia illegally detains ~ 25,000 Kremlin prisoners
According to the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, this is the number of civilians abducted by the Russian Federation.
During the full-scale invasion, the National Police began investigating the enforced disappearance of 8,800 people. Russian Children's Ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova claims Russia has illegally abducted over 700,000 children from Ukraine.
The Media Initiative for Human Rights has identified about one hundred places where abducted civilians are held.
The Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Qırım confirms 182 illegally imprisoned Ukrainian citizens, 60% of whom are Qırımtatarlar.
During the full-scale war, 2,576 Ukrainian citizens were returned to Ukraine, including 144 civilians.
Prisoner Iryna Danylovych suffers complete hearing loss in her left ear
The Russians, who have been holding the woman captive for over a year, refused to provide her with medical care.
Her father, Bronislav Danylovych, informed about her hearing loss.
It will be recalled that Danylovych is a civil activist from the temporarily occupied Kefe (Feodosiia). She was detained in April 2022. Since then, the woman has been held in captivity and deprived of medical care, which has caused her to develop an ear disease.
"Courts" in the temporarily occupied Qirim sentenced Danylovych to seven years in prison. Her head and ear pains intensified during her transfer from the pre-trial detention centre to the colony. While in the penal institution, the prisoner sought medical assistance once again. An employee of the colony's medical unit replied that the pain would disappear when the woman finally lost her hearing.
On August 19, Russian security forces searched the home of Qırımlı Ruslan Emirvaliiev in the temporarily occupied Aluşta
As a result, they did not detain anyone or seize anything from the house.
This was reported by Crimean Solidarity.
The Russians justified their actions by claiming Emirvaliiev could allegedly conduct "anti-Russian propaganda". In addition, the security forces were supposedly looking for a "hotel" where "Ukrainian refugees" were staying.
The Qirimli provided the Russians with all the housing documents they had illegally demanded. The security forces also interviewed his neighbours.
Emirvaliiev used to be a member of the leadership of the Aluşta Muslim community. Still, in 2020, the temporary occupation administration forced the organisation to strip him of this position on trumped-up extremism charges.
Russians transferred Kremlin prisoner Server Mustafaiev to a punishment cell
In this way, Russian security forces put pressure on the Qirimli.
This was reported by Crimean Solidarity.
The Russians also threaten the Qirimli that after his term in the punishment cell, he will be transferred to strict detention - a special regime of imprisonment in which prisoners have less contact with the outside world. The punishment cell and the severe confinement are used for prisoners who violate the colony's rules. It is not known what violation the Russians are accusing Mustafaiev of.
This is not the first time he has been sent to the punishment cell. During his previous " penalties", the Russians took away the Quran from the prisoner under the guise of a "linguistic examination".
Server Mustafaiev is a human rights activist who has been in Russian captivity since 2018. In 2020, a Russian court illegally sentenced him to 14 years in prison. Russian security forces fabricated terrorism charges against Mustafaiev.
Russians appointed a forensic psychiatric examination for abducted Ukrainian citizen Leniie Umerova
There is no information on the procedure of the examination.
Umerova's brother, Aziz Umerov, informed the Crimean Human Rights Group.
It is almost impossible to get any information about this case, as it is classified.
It will be recalled that in December 2022, the woman travelled from Kyiv to the occupied Qirim as the health of her father, who lives on the peninsula, deteriorated.
She crossed the Russian-Georgian border. In 2014, Umerova refused to receive a Russian passport, so she crossed the border with a Ukrainian one. Russian security forces used this as a reason to search her, looked through her phone and computer, and then detained her.
Until March 16, Umerova was held in the Centre for the Temporary Detention of Foreign Citizens. After that, she was abducted by unknown persons and taken to Vladikavkaz. There, the woman was detained by Russian police. The court initially arrested her for 15 days. Later, this was repeated three more times.
During this time, the security forces fabricated espionage charges against the girl. In May 2023, the Russians brought Umerova to Moscow, where she is still being held.
Russian court rejects appeal of POW Maksym Butkevych
Although the prisoner was supported in the courtroom by the consuls of Germany, the United Kingdom and France, the Russians did not change the "sentence" of 13 years in prison.
This was reported by the Russian media outlet Mediazona.
At the same time, the defence managed to ensure that the time already spent in custody was counted towards the sentence.
Butkevich said that he was not being tortured at the moment, but he was in a complete information vacuum. The prisoner hopes for a prisoner exchange.
Maksym Butkevych is a human rights activist who joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the start of the full-scale invasion. In June 2022, he was taken prisoner, and in March 2023, the militants "sentenced" him to 13 years in prison on trumped-up charges of violating the rules of war.
Relatives have no contact with Kremlin prisoner Bohdan Ziza
His state of health after 17 days of hunger strike is unknown.
This was reported to Suspilne by his sister, Oleksandra Barkova.
It will be recalled that Ziza is a Qirimli artist who poured yellow and blue paint on the building of the temporary occupation administration of Kezlev (Yevpatoria) on May 16, 2022. On June 6, a Russian court sentenced him to 15 years in prison on charges of "terrorism".
After that, on June 10, Ziza started a hunger strike. In this way, the prisoner wanted to achieve the revocation of his illegally issued Russian citizenship. After 17 days, he stopped his hunger strike. On the eve of this, he described his condition in a letter: "Weakness is taking its toll, most of all in my arms and legs. I feel dizzy from any movement. I hardly get out of bed".
Since the end of June, there has been almost no contact with the prisoner.
On August 24, Russian security forces illegally detained six Qırımtatarlar in the temporarily occupied Qırım
On the Independence Day of Ukraine, Russians searched the homes of people engaged in human rights activities under the pretext of suspicion of terrorism.
This was reported by Crimean Solidarity.
The five men were activists of this organisation and had already been persecuted by Russia. These are Ametkhan Umerov, Seidamet Mustafaiev, Ruslan Asanov, Eldar Yakubov, Remzi Nimetulaiev.
The exception is 23-year-old Abdulmedzhit Seitumerov. He has not yet been prosecuted, but the Russians have already sentenced his two elder brothers to long-term imprisonment.
The detentions of the six men were preceded by searches of their homes in Bağçasaray and the district.
