Regardless of Brussels' decision on Ukrainian grain imports, Poland will not allow itself to be "flooded with Ukrainian grain" — Mateusz Morawiecki
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has said that Poland will not allow itself to be "flooded with Ukrainian grain."
He said this in a campaign video posted on his Facebook page.
"Poland will not allow being flooded with Ukrainian grain. Regardless of the decision of Brussels officials, we will not open our borders," Morawiecki said.
On September 15, the EU ban on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products to Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary expires.
Poland is trying to extend the ban and is ready to impose a unilateral embargo if necessary.
At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that the decision to extend the ban on Ukrainian agricultural imports imports "does not correspond to the EU Single Market principles and norms."
It will be recalled that Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia want to extend the ban on imports of Ukrainian grain until the end of the year.
EU Commissioner for Agriculture supports the extension of the temporary ban on Ukrainian grain imports to EU countries.
