Qırımtatar publishing house Kitap Qalesi to be established in Ukraine
Ukraine is planning to open the first Qırımtatar publishing house on the mainland.
The publishing house's manager and author of the idea, Sofiia Ostrozka, told Chytomo media outlet about it.
The first edition will be a bilingual collection of Qırımtatar folklore in the Qırımtatar language (Latin script) and translations of works into Ukrainian.
The priorities of Kitap Qalesi are Qırımtatar classics and the development of contemporary authors from the indigenous peoples of Ukraine.
One of the publishing house's tasks will be to popularise the Qırımtatar language, which is included in the list of endangered languages.
There are publishing houses working with the Qırımtatar language in temporarily occupied Qırım, but due to the Russian occupation, they cannot use the Latin alphabet.
