Kherson Art Museum identifies another painting stolen by Russians and taken to temporarily occupied Simferopol

It is the painting "Seascape" (Off the Coast of Greece) of 1907.

Suspilne reported this citing Larysa Zharkykh, head of the information and mass department of the Kherson Regional O. Shovkunenko Museum.

The Kherson Museum received a photo from the Tavrida Central Museum in temporarily occupied Simferopol. However, this photo showed only a part of the painting, so the identification process was complicated. Museum workers from Kherson deformed the visible part of the painting in a graphic editor and compared it to the original.

Thanks to this, it became known that the painting "Seascape" (Off the Coast of Greece) by an unknown artist (1907) is now in Simferopol.

Russians stole it in November 2022.

It will be recalled that Russians stole 10,000 works from the Kherson museum.
